The Davey Bones staff are all SDI and PADI trained divers.  All of our instructors and divemasters are not only experienced but know how to establish a good rapport with students to give them a relaxed environment as they train and establish confidence in their new skills.

Mark McCutcheon

INSTRUCTOR TRAINER
-VETERAN-

Mark started diving in 1984 while serving in the U.S. Army. Mark is currently certified as a SDI Instructor Trainer, a TDI Technical Instructor, a First Response Training Instructor, and a PADI IDC Staff Instructor. He is a specialty instructor in 32 SDI/TDI specialties and 20 PADI specialties. Mark is also certified as a PSI-PCI cylinder inspector, and an Open Circuit Technician for several scuba manufacturers.

Mike Reed

INSTRUCTOR

Capt. Michael Reed learned to dive while at Miami University in 1978. Mike grew up around the water and was a lifeguard and water safety instructor.  Mike holds an OUPC or “six pack” license from the US Coast Guard. Mike and his First Mate Kathy have extensive experience in travel diving including the Caribbean, Hawaii and Fiji. Mike will tell you “Focus on your buoyancy, the rest will come easy”.

John Lavelle


INSTRUCTOR

John received his Open Water certification in 2014 and has been working ever since completing certifications in Search and Recovery, Underwater Navigator, Equipment Specialist, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Enriched Air, Emergency Oxygen Provider, Rescue, Master Scuba Diver, and Divemaster. John’s passion is shipwrecks and he is a member of MAST( Maritime Archaeological Survey Team) where he earned his certification in Underwater Archaeology.

Jason Selzer

Jason was introduced to scuba diving in 1994 while attending the US Army Jungle Warfare School at Fort Sherman Panama.  In 2011 he completed the Open Water Diver course. diver, Rescue diver, Drysuit diver, Enriched Air diver, and Emergency First Responder. Jason also has certifications as an Advanced Open Water. He has also taught numerous Discover Scuba courses.  Jason’s love for the sport and attention to detail make him an exceptional member of the Davey Bones Scuba Center staff. 

Michael Vanoy

SERVICE INSTRUCTOR
SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Mike started diving while working on cruise lines, primarily in the Caribbean. Upon returning to land Mike trained as a commercial diver and operates a business doing inspections, repairs, and recovery. In his off time, he is an active tech diver, typically on Great Lakes shipwrecks or in caves in Florida. 

Cari Errington


DIVEMASTER

Cari has been diving since 2013 and is a certified Divemaster and Rescue Diver. She also has certifications as a Night Diver, Nitrox Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, EFR, Drysuit Diver, Search and Recovery Diver and Drift Diver. Cari truly enjoys diving and loves to share the sport with others. Mexico is her favorite dive destination and she and her husband Phil hope to have a home there eventually.

Cory Melvin


INSTRUCTOR - TRAINER

Cory has been diving since 2011. He has worked as a Dive Technician / Paramedic in Fort Wayne, IN at a hospital based Hyperbaric Medicine / Wound Care Unit. Cory’s diving experience has taken him throughout the Caribbean, including Jamaica, St. Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, and Grand Bahamas.

Adam Nilson

INSTRUCTOR

Adam was certified in 2003, prior to pursuing careers in the military and the civilian fire service.  Adam loves to travel and has lived in five countries on four continents.  In addition to Divemaster, Adam holds twelve specialty certifications.  He started tech diving in 2019 and enjoys exploring wrecks in the Great Lakes, though any day underwater is a good day for Adam.

Marina Kettler

Marina grew up on the Gulf of Mexico and was certified when she was 10 years old. She grew up diving Southeast Asia waters. She earned her Dive Master certification in 2015 and her Solo certification in 2021. She is currently working on her technical diving certifications.

Lori Kasper

Lori grew up in NE Ohio and spent her summers fishing the waters of Lake Erie. She got her Open Water certification in 2011 and has been diving locally and throughout the Caribbean ever since. She became a Divemaster in 2016 and is also certified as a Digital Underwater Photographer, Underwater Navigator, Drift Diver, Emergency Oxygen Provider, Search and Recovery Diver, Deep Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver, and is a Rescue Diver. Lori loves to dive anywhere that gives her the opportunity to be in the water with sharks and turtles

Clint Hodkinson

Clint started diving with Davey Bones Scuba in early 2020 and has been training hard every weekend since. He has completed many specialties to include Solo Diver, Underwater Navigation, Deep diver, and, many others. After completing his Rescue Diver course, he started his Dive Master course and Graduated in 2020, he is an excellent teacher and a great addition to our staff.

Phil Errington


DIVEMASTER

Phil, a certified diver since 2013, holds multiple specialties, including Deep, Wreck, Navigation, Nitrox, and Rescue, along with Divemaster and Tec50 certifications. Passionate about deep wreck diving—he has a lust for rust!—he also enjoys drifting along Yucatan’s reefs and dreams of moving to the Caribbean. With a focus on safety, he ensures every dive is fun and enjoyable.

Scott Duber


INSTRUCTOR

Scott began diving in 1991 and became a SCUBA and EFR Instructor in 2014. Now a Master SCUBA Diver Trainer and SDI Instructor, he holds multiple specialty ratings, including Enriched Air, Night Diving, and Full Face Mask Diving. As a Dive Team Commander, he’s also an ERDI Public Safety Diver Instructor. His favorite dive spots include Grand Cayman, Barbados, and St. Lucia.

Staci Melvin

Staci received her Open Water certification in 2016. She holds certifications in numerous specialties. She also works as a medical professional and her expertise is a source of strength in the Davey Bones family. Staci loves diving and approaches each dive as a new adventure.

Lydia Kane


INSTRUCTOR

Lydia is a SDI Divemaster. She started diving in 2021 while living in Guam and has since been diving in Palau, Mexico, Florida and Ohio. She enjoys deep blue drift dives with plenty of sharks. Lydia is currently working toward her Open Water Instructor Certification. 

Brian Israel

Brian has been Open water certified since 2001. He is one of our Divemasters and Paramedics.

He also possesses a host of other dive certifications. He likes to dive in the Florida Keys, and

Mexico.

Chad Hodkinson

ASSSTANT INSTRUCTOR

Chad started diving in 2009 while he was stationed in Egypt with the Military. He completed his  Divemaster certification in 2019 and is now a member of the Davey Bones family. He has many dive excursions in multiple locations throughout the Caribbean and is currently making the transition into technical diving.

Lindsey Rueckert


INSTRUCTOR

​Lindsey began diving in 2007 and quickly fell in love with the sport, exploring the world and encountering whale sharks in Baja and manta rays in Hawaii. She became an Open Water SCUBA Instructor in 2012 and loves sharing her passion with students. When not teaching diving, she’s a career technology instructor specializing in small animal science and care.
